Parking shortage downtown? I've never been bothered by walking a few more steps!

As Putnam becomes more popular, and more folks frequent downtown for the great restaurants, theater, shopping, and other community events, some worry about the parking "shortage".

It seems that parking has been a problem for a long time in the tiny little downtown area of Putnam. Probably happens in all small towns.

I don't get it.

I go downtown at the times when it is the busiest, and have never had a problem parking. Of course I don't look for, expect, or need to park at the front door of where I am going.

We are all supposed to be getting more heart healthy, working out, entering walks/races, so why are we not willing to park and walk a bit in our every day situations?

Seriously, the furthest I've parked and walked to any of my downtown Putnam destinations is probably 1/4 of a mile. After having to sit on my butt all week at work and driving in my car, I am thrilled to walk a few extra steps!

I  understand that not everyone can walk any distance more than a few steps due to a handicap. However, I am guessing that most of us can walk a few steps under our own power ~ perhaps the equivalent of a city block or two.

If you accept and enjoy the few extra steps, you will find plenty of parking in Putnam!

I am a Putnamaniac that has never had a parking problem in downtown Putnam!
