New Year's Resolutions are popular, but many times we set unobtainable or unspecific goals for ourselves.
Crazy things like:
"I will lose 50 pounds by March." How is that reasonable or possible for an average person?
"I will be a better person." What does that mean??
Why not set your self up for success? Set reasonable goals that will not only challenge you, but give you a sense of success when you complete the goal. It will become catchy, and soon you will set goals for yourself all the time.
Years ago a friend of mine said his resolution was to read 12 books a year. Do the math. That is just an average of one book per month. Sounds quite do-able! Since I like to read, I adopted that policy. I read about 15-17 books a year and enjoy that resolution each and every year!
Everyone resolves to be more fit and healthy as well. Do what works for you! If you pick an exercise you like to do, chances are you will stick with it! Remember that the exercise session is usually a lot more fun once you have completed it for the day! Work on eating better a little at a time. Make the goals attainable! Step by step you will be able to overcome your stumbling blocks.
The Biggest Loser is one of the most popular and inspiring shows on tv. A past season's 2nd place finisher lives in our area of Northeast CT. I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing Rudy Pauls speak here in Putnam. That fine evening was featured in a Putnamania blog.
The Quiet Corner also does a Biggest Loser contest, and I'm going to sign up for it as my inspiration to get back to my better eating habits. Here is the info from Midtown Fitness' website:
Jan 11-Northeast Connecticut's "Biggest Loser " contest starts January 11th. Contestants will compete to lose weight this winter and help to raise money for Daily Bread and T.E.E.G. You don't need to be a Midtown member to enter or win cash and prizes. (registration 7am-7pm).
Does anyone want to join me in the contest??? You only have yourself to thank for getting into better habits!
I am a Putnamaniac because you are encouraged to be a better person here, and a big loser, too!
