I'm a Cowboy Junkie, and it is easy to be one here in Northeast CT!

One of the many gorgeous roads I can take home from work is Rt. 97 through Hampton and Pomfret and right into Putnam.

I had to stop and take this picture today, although it is a picture that appears in my mind many times...

Did you ever see the old movie starring John Wayne called "The Cowboys".

Man! I loved that movie. It is one of my all time favorites.

Great camaraderie, great life lessons, good vs. evil, and overcoming seemingly insurmountable challenges...This movie says it all for me. Plus, it has cowboys in it!

Living here in Northeast, CT. I am surrounded by all of these values, while enjoying the beauty of the land.

So, as I appreciate the beauty around me tonight when I lay down to sleep, I'll sing these lyrics, because deep greens and blues are the colors I choose:

Well, there is a young cowboy he lives on the range
His horse and his cattle are his only companions
He works in the saddle and he sleeps in the canyons
Just waiting for Summer, his pastures to change

And as the moon rises he sits by his fire
Thinking about women and glasses of beer
And closing his eyes as the dogies retire
He sings out a song which is soft but it's clear
As if maybe someone could hear

Goodnight you moonlight ladies
Rockabye sweet baby James
Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose
Won't you let me go down in my dreams
And rockabye sweet baby James

Here is James Taylor singing this great Cowboy song on youtube.

I am a Putnamaniac, who is also a cowboy junkie, that loves the deep greens and blues that surround me here!
