This method may also have to do with my obsessive/compulsive personality, tending towards the deep end of that spectrum.
In any case, it works for me, so I "use it for good, and not for evil."
When life pinches in on you, especially those dastardly things you can't control, sometimes you really just gotta say to yourself:
"Think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts, be positive, be positive, be positive, think happy thoughts, be positive, think positively happy thoughts, be happy, think happy thoughts, think positive thoughts...."
Sometimes you might have to say it an infinite amount of times ... or until it works.
Eventually it really does work!
I am a Putnamaniac because I will think happy thoughts and be positive to infinity and beyond!
