I know that everyone will hug their loved ones a bit tighter today as well.
There was a girl I used to work with, Jennie Jav, and she had the best smile in the world. The room lit up when she smiled, which was often. It always improved my mood to be on the receiving end of that smile. I think of it whenever I need a boost of positivity, and I try to pass that smile on to someone that looks like they might need it.
This morning I passed on a smile and a hug on the River Trail during my jog. The recipient was an older woman out there shuffle-jogging ahead of me. I kept seeing her stop, bend over, pick up a piece of litter, put it in her bag, and then continue on. I passed her, and on my way back towards her, I stopped her and told her I needed to give her a hug. "Why?" she asked.... "Because you are clearly a great person" I replied to her dear glowing face. She told me she gets about 3-4 bags of litter each day on her walk... And then we were both off on our separate ways.
Pass on a smile and hug it up. It can't hurt to acknowledge a good soul on this earth today.
I am a Putnamaniac that hopes there are enough hugs and smiles to go around where they are needed most
