This is a great event that has grown not only in participants every year, but has actually added more events over the years as well, to involve folks with all sorts of different exercise tastes.
As the Deary event name states, there is a race (5 mile run starting at 9:05am), two 5 mile walks (one at 6am, one at 8am), a kid's fun run (starting at 9:15am), and a couple of bike rides of different lengths (starting at 8:15am).
The best part of this community get together is that it is a big fund raiser for the Deary Cancer Fund. See how the funds are used here.
Every penny raised stays in our local community to provide to those in need as they face their battle with cancer. There are not a lot of fund raisers that can boast about the efficient use of their monies.
So although this is only my 4th year of being out at 6am for the early morning walk, this is the 24th annual Deary Race, Walk, Ride.
If you have never done it, choose and event and come on down! It is great fun, for a great cause!
